Course Description

This supervisory training develops competencies in coating project management, quality control systems, surface preparation oversight, and team coordination to ensure compliant and efficient protective coating operations.

What you'll learn in this Course?

This program equips participants to supervise industrial coating and painting operations. It covers the role of the supervisor, purpose of protective coatings, types of industrial assets, and corrosion fundamentals. Surface preparation methods include SSPC/NACE standards, abrasive blasting, power and hand tool cleaning, and surface profile measurement. Coating materials and systems include primers, intermediates, topcoats, epoxy, PU, zinc-rich coatings, selection criteria, and understanding manufacturer datasheets. Application techniques cover brush, roller, and spray application, environmental condition monitoring, wet film thickness control, and defect prevention. Inspection and quality control focus on DFT measurement, visual inspection, adhesion and holiday testing, and documentation. Supervision and site management cover work planning, manpower control, equipment and material management, and coordination with clients and inspectors. HSE topics include safety during blasting and painting, PPE, respiratory protection, fire and chemical safety, and waste disposal compliance. Standards and compliance include AMPP/SSPC/NACE, ISO coating standards, client specifications, and audit readiness. Defect management and repairs cover common coating defects, repair procedures, root cause analysis, and final acceptance. Project documentation and reporting include method statements, ITPs, daily progress reports, inspection reports, and as-built documentation.

The module highlights how thoughtful planning can directly improve project quality, reduce accidents, and help projects finish on time and within budget.
