Course Description

This hands-on program trains technicians in the installation, alignment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and gearboxes in industrial facilities.

What you'll learn in this Course?

The Mechanical Fitter ? Rotary Equipment Program develops skills to install, maintain, and troubleshoot rotary machinery. It introduces rotary equipment fundamentals, types, operating principles, industrial applications, and fitter responsibilities. Pumps and compressors include centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and air compressors, with operational limits. Bearings and seals cover bearing types, seal arrangements, lubrication principles, and failure symptoms. Shaft alignment includes alignment methods, tolerances, readings, and soft foot correction. Gearboxes and couplings cover gear types, coupling selection, installation practices, and wear indicators. Maintenance practices include preventive maintenance, predictive checks, overhauling steps, and clearance control. Installation and commissioning cover base preparation, grouting, run-out checks, and startup monitoring. Troubleshooting includes common failures, root cause basics, and corrective actions. Documentation covers maintenance records. Safety and permit compliance include LOTO application, rotating hazards, PPE requirements, and permit adherence. Shutdown and turnaround work covers equipment isolation, coordination planning, time discipline, and handover procedures.

The module highlights how thoughtful planning can directly improve project quality, reduce accidents, and help projects finish on time and within budget.
