Course Description

This practical program trains technicians in the maintenance, repair, and installation of static equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, and tanks in refinery and petrochemical environments.

What you'll learn in this Course?

The Mechanical Fitter ? Static Equipment Program trains personnel to maintain and install static industrial equipment. It introduces static equipment basics, types, operating conditions, design purposes, and fitter roles. Vessels and heat exchangers include pressure vessels, heat exchanger types, internal components, and service limitations. Piping and nozzles cover nozzle orientation, gasket seating, bolt tightening, and load transfer. Valves and internals include valve types, trim components, and installation checks. Gaskets and bolting cover gasket materials, bolt grades, torque methods, and tensioning practices. Inspection and maintenance include visual inspection, thickness awareness, and common defects. Installation and alignment cover equipment leveling, support integrity, thermal expansion, and cold vs hot alignment. Hydrotest and leak testing include test preparation, pressure holding, observation points, and test documentation. Safety and permit compliance cover confined space, pressure hazards, PPE standards, and permit control. Shutdown and maintenance planning includes equipment isolation, sequence control, coordination with teams, and final reinstatement.

The module highlights how thoughtful planning can directly improve project quality, reduce accidents, and help projects finish on time and within budget.
