Course Description

This specialized program trains fabricators in tank and vessel shell assembly, nozzle installation, welding, and testing for storage and process applications.

What you'll learn in this Course?

The Tanks and Vessel Fabricator Program develops skills for fabrication of storage tanks and pressure vessels in accordance with applicable codes and standards. It covers tank and vessel fabrication fundamentals including types of tanks and vessels, service applications, design intent, and fabricator responsibilities. Material types and standards include carbon steel plates, alloy materials, plate identification, and code requirements. Plate cutting and edge preparation cover oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, bevel preparation, and dimensional control. Shell and course fabrication include rolling techniques, course alignment, roundness control, and tolerance checks. Bottom and roof fabrication covers bottom plate layout, annular plates, roof structures, and fit-up accuracy. Welding coordination includes weld joint types, welding sequence, distortion control, and repair awareness. Dimensional inspection addresses diameter checks, verticality checks, roundness measurement, and correction methods. NDT and hydrotest readiness include NDT coordination, test preparation, hold points, and acceptance criteria. Surface preparation and coating cover surface cleaning, coating preparation, damage prevention, and touch-up practices. Safety and confined space practices include hot work safety, confined space awareness, gas testing, and PPE standards.

The module highlights how thoughtful planning can directly improve project quality, reduce accidents, and help projects finish on time and within budget.
